Sweat Gland Reduction

Sweat gland reduction is performed with PrecisionTx, a hand-held laser device that reduces the glands quickly and safely. Local anesthesia will be used to numb the area. Dr. Malek will make a very small incision in your underarm. A small cannula, or hollow tube, is gently inserted into the incision. Inside the cannula is a tiny laser fiber. This fiber delivers laser light that reduces the sweat glands in your underarms. The PrecisionTx system is very safe, precise, and FDA approved to deliver laser energy to carefully targeted areas. There is very little risk for complications, and the treatment is effective in approximately 80% of patients. The results of this treatment are permanent, so you will no longer need to worry about excessive sweating following sweat gland reduction.

Botox® Injections a safe and effective alternative to sweat gland reduction with PrecisionTx, having the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for “turning on” the body’s sweat glands. By blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger, Botox® “turns off” sweating at the area where it has been injected. Results start to be noticeable approximately 2 to 4 days after treatment with the full effects usually noted within 2 weeks. Dryness typically lasts 4 to 12 months but some studies have found it can last as long as 14 months.
