Improvements on a weak cheek structure can make a significant difference when restoring a youthful appearance. Sunken cheeks can take away from a well-defined facial structure, and naturally occur as we age. Whether you choose temporary injectables, or a more permanent implant, our high quality procedures are sure to deliver the prominent, balanced facial features you desire. Enhancement can be made alone, or pair especially well with other surgeries to the face such as rhinoplasty, chin enhancement, otoplasty, facelifts, and neck lifts.
There are many different ways to achieve an improvement of the cheek area, including:
A small incision is made on the inside of the mouth or along the lower eyelid, where a pocket is made underneath the tissue and the implant is slipped in and secured in place. The incisions are closed up and properly dressed for a healthy recovery. If another cosmetic procedure is being performed at the same time, such as a face lift or eyelid surgery, the implants may be inserted through those incisions.
We offer facial injectables and fillers as a simpler, temporary alternative to surgery. This also allows you to evaluate the appearance of augmented cheeks before committing to permanent implants. By injecting in just the right location, we can help you reach your desired look.
Structural fat transfer (fat grafting), can be used as much as possible, to enhance facial features. It can fill out the cheeks to lift facial structure or as an all-purpose filler. This is a more permanent solution for cheek improvement, but produces a very natural-looking result. Learn more about fat transfer.
Following cheek implant surgery, you may experience some pain, swelling and bruising. Your stitches will be removed within about a week. If the incision was made through the mouth, then the patient may experience soreness and difficulty chewing, in which case soft food may be recommended, and stitches will dissolve on their own. The total recovery time may take up to 3 to 4 months, in which after that all numbness and restrictions should fade. Most patients can return to work after 1 week. Patients who receive injectable cheek improvements (Voluma) or fat transfer may experience swelling, soreness, numbness, redness, minor bruising, or itching for the first 2 weeks.
