Labiaplasty

There is no “normal” vagina or vulva (the external tissue surrounding the vaginal opening). Some women are unhappy with the size, shape, or look of their inner labia (inner vaginal lips). Aging, genetics, and childbirth can all affect a woman’s physical comfort and diminish the visual appeal of the labia minora and labia majora. Labia that are enlarged, long, or asymmetrical can cause embarrassment and even physical irritation.

What is the purpose of a Labiaplasty?

The anatomy of the external female genitalia can vary significantly for each woman. Labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation procedures restore the appearance and tightness of the vaginal area. Labiaplasty is for women with large labia, asymmetric labia, or related female genital issues. The procedure will reduce the size or change the shape of the lips on the outside of the vagina and correct any irregularities.

What is recovery from a Labiaplasty procedure like?

  • Resting on the day of surgery is recommended.
  • Patients may experience minor discomfort and mild swelling
  • Patients should abstain from sexual activity for 6-8 weeks due to the sensitivity of the repair
  • Patients may return to work within a few days to one week, depending on your activity level

Benefits of Labiaplasty can include:

Exercise Without Irritation

Overly large labia minora may be physically in the way and inhibit your performance during exercise and sports. They may rub against each other, your legs, or your clothing and cause irritation and even rashes. Vaginal Rejuvenation surgery can allow you to participate in physical activities without this discomfort.

Have More Clothing Options

Large labia may be uncomfortable in tight jeans, and women are often embarrassed that elongated labia will be visible through swimsuits or tight clothing. After labiaplasty, you can wear a wider variety of clothing without feeling self-conscious.

Women’s Wellness

Enlarged, asymmetrical, or otherwise irregular labia may cause physical and emotional discomfort that detracts from your satisfaction during intimacy. Some women are embarrassed about the appearance of the labia minora and refrain from sexual intimacy altogether. Others may experience physical irritation of their labia during intercourse.
