Dysport®

Move toward a natural look.

Wrinkles aren’t your style and “frozen face” isn’t either. For adults who want a natural look, there’s Dysport, a prescription injection proven to help smooth the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Untreated muscles still work normally, so you can continue to express feelings naturally. It’s the lines that disappear, not your expressions.

How It Works

One injection. Five points. Loads of confidence.

Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines by reducing specific muscle activity. Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults. One injection into each of 5 points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of your face to move naturally. In other words, no frozen face, just natural-looking results. You can control your look instead of your look controlling you. That’s the Dysport difference.

FAQ

If you desire a slight improvement in your look or a “cleaning up” of age-related wrinkles, Dysport® Cosmetic may be for you. It has become a superb option for the patient hesitant to undergo surgery, yet wants to erase the deep creases and furrows of the brow. By relaxing the muscles that cause these wrinkles, you can rid yourself of the heavy tension look or remove a misrepresented, tired and angry appearance. Patients appreciate its subtle improvement and are pleased when their acquaintances are not quite sure why they look better. Following treatment with Dysport®, you can expect to appear more relaxed and rested.
In some cases, the effects of Dysport and all botulinum toxin products may affect areas of the body away from the injection site. These effects can cause symptoms of a serious condition called botulism. Symptoms of botulism can happen hours to weeks after injection and may include swallowing and breathing problems, loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, or loss of bladder control. Swallowing and breathing problems can be life threatening and there have been reports of death. The risk of symptoms is probably greatest in children and adults treated for muscle spasms, particularly in those patients who have underlying medical conditions that could make these symptoms more likely. The toxic effects have been reported at doses similar to those used to treat muscle spasms in the neck. Lower doses, in both approved and unapproved uses, have also caused toxic effects. This includes treatment of children and adults for muscle spasms. These effects could make it unsafe for you to drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities. Dysport should not be used in children or in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask Dr. Malek if Dysport is right for you.
The area most commonly treated include, horizontal lines across the forehead, and moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
Once you and Dr. Malek have decided that Dysport is the best option for you, he will administer a number of injections into the muscles. The amount of Dysport used will depend on your individual needs and muscle activity.
The injections are very small and done with an ultra-fine needle. Most patients say it feels similar to a little pinch and are pleasantly surprised at what little if any discomfort they feel. At The Centre for Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine we apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to injections.
We ensure you that you will get the look you want. Most people simply want to look natural, refreshed and improve the appearance of wrinkles. Although results are evident, Dysport will not give the look of “having work done”.
Botox Cosmetic®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® are quite similar. Both are a form of botulinum toxin type A and achieve similar results. The formulations do differ, so the potency and price per unit differ as well. Dr. Malek will help you decide which product would best suit your individual needs.
Pricing varies based on the amount of injectable required to reach desired results, along with number of combined procedures performed. Please call or schedule a consultation for more information.
