Why People Seek Out Body Contouring

Body contouring is sought after by many people who have tried diet and exercise but still struggle with areas that don't respond to their efforts. It’s a popular choice for those who have undergone significant weight loss and are left with excess skin, or for individuals who want to refine their shape after pregnancy. Whether it's the love handles that won’t budge, the loose skin after shedding pounds, or the desire to enhance your natural curves, body contouring can offer a solution.

What makes body contouring so versatile is that it can be customized to address your specific concerns. It’s not just about removing fat; it’s about sculpting your body to align with your aesthetic goals. There are several approaches to body contouring, each with unique benefits tailored to different needs. At The Centre for Cosmetic Surgery, we offer a variety of procedures designed to help you achieve the best possible results.

Our Body Contouring Procedures

Liposuction

What It Is: Liposuction is a tried-and-true surgical procedure that removes excess fat from targeted areas like the abdomen, thighs, arms, and hips. It’s ideal for those stubborn pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Best For: Individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have localized fat deposits they wish to eliminate. Liposuction is perfect if you’re looking for a significant change in specific areas without affecting the surrounding tissue.

SmartLipo

What It Is: SmartLipo is a laser-assisted lipolysis system that not only removes fat but also tightens the skin. This minimally invasive procedure uses laser energy to liquefy fat cells, making them easier to remove, while the heat stimulates collagen production for firmer skin.

Best For: Patients who want fat removal with the added benefit of skin tightening, particularly in smaller areas like the neck, arms, or knees.

BodyTite

What It Is: BodyTite uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to melt fat and tighten skin simultaneously. This procedure offers precise body sculpting with less downtime than traditional liposuction.

Best For: Individuals seeking a minimally invasive procedure that combines fat reduction with skin tightening. BodyTite is especially effective for those who want to improve skin laxity in addition to contouring.

Renuvion Body Contouring
(J-Plasma)

What It Is: Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, is an advanced procedure that uses a combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency energy to tighten loose skin and contour the body. This technology targets collagen under the skin, promoting a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Best For: Patients who have loose skin after weight loss or pregnancy, or those who simply want to improve skin tone without undergoing more invasive surgery.

Fat Transfer

What It Is: Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, involves removing fat from one area of your body (such as the abdomen or thighs) and injecting it into another area that needs enhancement, like the buttocks or breasts. This procedure not only contours the donor area but also adds volume where desired.

Best For: Those looking to enhance their curves naturally using their own body fat. Fat transfer is an excellent choice if you want to avoid implants and prefer a more natural approach.

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

What It Is: The Brazilian Butt Lift combines liposuction with fat transfer to enhance the shape and size of your buttocks. This procedure is perfect for those who want to achieve a fuller, rounder backside while also contouring surrounding areas like the waist or thighs.

Best For: Individuals who desire a curvier silhouette and want to achieve it through natural fat transfer rather than implants.

CoolSculpting (Discontinued but Relevant)

What It Is: Although no longer offered at The Centre, CoolSculpting was a popular non-invasive treatment that used controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate fat cells. We now recommend Evolve as a superior option, offering fat reduction, skin tightening, and muscle toning in one treatment.

Best For: Patients who previously considered CoolSculpting may now find better results with Evolve, especially if they’re looking for a comprehensive solution

Evolve

What It Is: Evolve is an innovative, non-invasive body contouring solution that addresses multiple concerns in one treatment. Using radiofrequency (RF) energy, Evolve offers fat reduction, skin tightening, and muscle toning. It's an ideal solution for those who want to improve their body contour without surgery.

Best For: Individuals looking for a comprehensive, non-surgical approach to body contouring. Evolve is perfect for those who want to tone and tighten multiple areas with minimal downtime, particularly those who prefer a non-invasive method.

How to Choose the Right Procedure

Choosing the right body contouring procedure starts with understanding your goals and how each treatment can help you achieve them. If you want to smooth out stubborn fat, liposuction or SmartLipo might be ideal. For skin laxity, Renuvion or BodyTite could provide the tightening effects you need. If enhancing curves with your own fat appeals to you, fat transfer or a Brazilian Butt Lift might be perfect. Consider your lifestyle—procedures like liposuction may require more recovery time, while SmartLipo or BodyTite offer quicker recovery. The best way to decide is to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Malek or our expert team at The Centre for Cosmetic Surgery. We’ll understand your concerns, evaluate your body, and recommend the best options for you.

Body Contouring FAQ

  • What does body contouring do?

Body contouring is a set of procedures designed to reshape and improve the appearance of the body by targeting areas of excess fat, loose skin, or other cosmetic concerns. Whether through surgical methods like liposuction or non-invasive techniques like Evolve, body contouring helps create a more sculpted and toned physique.

  • How long does body contouring last?

The results of body contouring can be long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. Surgical procedures like liposuction offer more permanent fat removal, while non-invasive treatments may require maintenance sessions to uphold results.

  • How much weight do you lose with body contouring?

Body contouring is not designed for weight loss. Instead, it focuses on reshaping the body and removing stubborn fat deposits. The actual weight loss from body contouring is minimal, but the impact on your body's shape can be significant.

  • What is the difference between body sculpting and body contouring?

Body sculpting and body contouring are often used interchangeably, but they can refer to slightly different concepts. Body contouring is a broader term encompassing various procedures that reshape the body, while body sculpting typically refers to techniques that specifically refine and enhance the body’s shape.
  • How successful is body contouring?

Body contouring is highly successful for patients who have realistic expectations and are in good overall health. The success of the procedure depends on the method used, the skill of the surgeon or practitioner, and the patient’s adherence to post-procedure care.

  • Is body contouring better than liposuction?

Liposuction is a form of body contouring that is particularly effective for removing larger volumes of fat. Whether body contouring is better than liposuction depends on the individual’s goals. Non-invasive options may be preferable for those seeking minimal downtime, while liposuction may be better for more dramatic fat removal.
  • Does body contouring work for belly fat?

Yes, body contouring can effectively target belly fat. Procedures like liposuction, SmartLipo, and Evolve are particularly popular for reducing fat in the abdominal area and creating a flatter, more toned appearance.
  • Is body sculpting expensive?

The cost of body sculpting can vary widely depending on the type of procedure, the number of sessions needed, and the specific area being treated. Non-invasive treatments tend to be less expensive than surgical options, but they may require multiple sessions.

  • What is the safest fat removal procedure?

The safest fat removal procedure depends on individual factors, but non-invasive treatments like CoolSculpting or Evolve are generally considered very safe with minimal risks. For surgical options, liposuction performed by a skilled and experienced surgeon is also considered safe with a low complication rate.
  • How permanent is body contouring?

Body contouring can provide permanent results in terms of fat removal (e.g., liposuction), as the fat cells are permanently removed. However, remaining fat cells can still expand if you gain weight, so maintaining a stable weight is crucial for long-lasting results.
  • How many sessions of body contouring do you need to see results?

The number of body contouring sessions needed depends on the procedure. Surgical options like liposuction typically require only one session, while non-invasive treatments like Evolve may require multiple sessions (usually 3-6) to achieve the desired results.
  • How many inches can you lose with body contouring?

The number of inches you can lose with body contouring varies based on the procedure and the area treated. Patients often report losing 1-3 inches from targeted areas, but this can vary significantly depending on the amount of fat removed and the individual’s body.
  • Where does the fat go after body contouring?

After body contouring, particularly with treatments like CoolSculpting or liposuction, the fat cells are permanently removed from the body. In the case of CoolSculpting, the frozen fat cells are naturally processed and eliminated by the body over time.
  • Can you lose weight after body contouring?

Yes, you can lose weight after body contouring, especially if you continue with a healthy diet and exercise regimen. However, body contouring is not a weight-loss procedure; it's designed to shape and contour the body. Maintaining your results requires a commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
