Why Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift surgery may be right for you if the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose and full due to excess skin and fat. Saggy skin in the upper arm area is a common complaint, even among people who are not overweight. Sagging can occur as the result of aging as the skin loses its natural elasticity. It can also occur following significant weight loss. No matter the cause, saggy skin in the upper arms,  can be embarrassing and leave you feeling ashamed to show off your upper arms. We offer three arm lift procedure options.

Arm Lift Procedures

Traditional Arm Lift

Incision length and pattern during arm lift surgery depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm or on the back of the arm, and may extend from the underarm (axilla) to just above the elbow. Excess fat may be directly excised or treated with liposuction. Depending on your specific condition, incisions may be more limited. Then, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of your arm.

If you do not want to undergo a traditional arm lift, a laser arm lift using the SmartLipo Triplex system may be excellent alternative.

Laser Arm Lift with SmartLipo Triplex

A small cannula, or hollow tube, is inserted under the skin of your upper arm. Laser energy is delivered through the cannula to the fat cells, causing them to liquefy. Then, the liquefied fat is gently suctioned out of the body. The laser is also used to apply heat to the underside of the skin. This causes the skin to tighten and causes an increase in collagen production, furthering skin tightening. The entire procedure generally takes less than a few hours, and you will be able to return home the same day.

Laser Arm Lift with Precision TX

If you have mild to moderate skin sagging in the upper arms, a laser arm lift using Precision TX is often a good alternative to traditional arm lifts. With Precision TX, the procedure is minimally invasive, and unlike a traditional arm lift, Precision TX works to tighten the skin rather than remove it. This results in less pain, scarring and minimal downtime.

Arm Lift Recovery

An arm lift using the SmartLipo Triplex or Precision TX systems causes very little trauma to the tissue. This results in less bruising and swelling. Because the incisions are so small, there is no need for stitches. In most cases, you can immediately resume light activities and some people are even able to return to work in a few days. Full recovery takes less than two weeks, however, it may take as long as six months to see the final result. A traditional arm lift will require longer recovery time.

  • Am I a good candidate for arm lift surgery?

Arm lift surgery may be right for you if the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose and full due to excess skin and fat. If you have mild to moderate sagging skin in your upper arms, you may be a good candidate for SmartLipo. Because the procedure is less invasive than traditional arm lifts, you may be a good candidate even if a doctor recommended you not undergo the traditional procedure. You should be in good overall health and free from any serious conditions. Good candidates are of a healthy weight and have been unable to get rid of saggy skin and fat in the upper arms with diet and exercise. The procedure is not intended as a replacement for healthy weight loss, and it is important to have realistic expectations.

  • Can arm drooping, sagging appearance be corrected with exercise?

Unfortunately, no. Fluctuations in weight, growing older, and heredity can cause your upper arms to have a drooping, sagging appearance. This is a condition that cannot be corrected through exercise.

  • How much does an arm lift procedure cost?

Pricing varies based on body and skin types along with combined procedures performed. Please call or schedule a consultation for more information.
