Understanding Brow Lift Surgery
Do you feel like you appear tired, angry, or sad because of deep forehead lines, sagging brows, or wrinkles between the eyes? A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, may be the solution. By gently raising the position of the brows and smoothing lines across the forehead, this procedure restores a brighter, more approachable expression that looks youthful and refreshed. Many patients find that a brow lift helps them look the way they feel inside: energized, confident, and vibrant.
A brow lift can also improve symmetry of the brows and open up the eye area, which often gives the impression of larger, more awake eyes. For a more comprehensive result, it is frequently combined with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), a facelift, or skin resurfacing. These complementary procedures can further reduce signs of aging and create natural-looking balance across the entire face.

Depending on patient-to-patient requirements, Dr. Malek may choose local or general anesthesia, contingent on if other procedures are performed simultaneously. A brow lift can be done one of two ways:
Traditional Brow Lift
This method gives the surgeon the best access to the muscle and tissue, allowing adequate adjustments to be made. Incisions are made in front of the hairline to bring the hairline forward to prevent a receding appearance.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
A less invasive procedure than the previously mentioned traditional method, it utilizes 3-5 small ½” incisions located in front of the hair line. The endoscope (pencil-like camera), is inserted and pointed in a direction which aids the surgeon so they can see beneath the skin without making large incisions. The surgeon can then adjust the muscles and skin through the other incisions.

Brow Lift Recovery
Usually patients are up and about 1-2 days after surgery and bandages are removed on the second or third day. The patient can shower and wash hair normally after the bandages are removed. Keeping your head elevated 2-3 days after surgery will help reduce swelling. It is a good idea to be relatively inactive for the first week of recovery, but patients usually return to work in about 7 to 10 days after surgery. Energetic activities that elevate blood pressure should be avoided for several weeks.
